BENNETT WONG

Intro

I am a second-year undergraduate electrical engineering student at the University of Cincinnati, also pursuing a minor in mathematics. I have earned the OASiS Rapid Certification for semiconductors.

Currently, I work as an administrative assistant for the University of Cincinnati Bearcat's Pantry and Resource Center, statring in February 2024. In this role, I have made contributions to a data project by writing code in VBA to generate advanced statistical analysis on numerous demographics. I have also contributed to data organization by using software to catalog thousands of reports.

In my personal life, I have a hobby for home automation. I am constantly trying to make my things to work for me. I believe that technology is able to enhance our workflow of daily life in order to make more time for more exciting things.

I have a passion for learning about all things electrical. From tiny semiconductors, the building blocks of modern devices, to massive substations that transform and distribute energy. I find programming to be exciting, and am regularly finding ways to improve my coding skills. I am fascinated by the breadth of electrical engineering. This drives me to continually expand my knowledge and seek out technical experiences.

Projects

Autonomous Robot Prototype: This was a prototype robot built by my team for ENED1120, meant to simulate the actions of a warehouse management system. Our design scored a perfect score on the offical testing. My duties with this project included using python to develop a logic system, which determined the most efficient pathing to any coordinate in the warehouse while avoiding shelving and obstacles. My system used live sensor input to adjust for mechanical error as well. I also served as the main tester during the build process, and developed test-cases and trials to gather data to improve the performance.

About Me

Beyond my work and education, I have many hobbies. I seek out new experiences all the time. In the picture above I am chicken-wrangling after cleaning out a chicken coop at Tikkun Farm! I have a deep appreciation for music, which began when I started playing the viola at 10 years old. I am a seasoned home cook, and have been cooking and baking since I can remember.

I have played viola for half of my life, and find lots of joy in listening to classical music. I especially love to play chamber music. I am a member of the UC Symphony Orchestra, and served as principal chair in the 2023-2024 season. Previously, I have played in the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra (COYO), as well as two orchestras and a quartet at my high school. I also sang in my highscool chorus, with which I had the opporitunity to sing at the OMEA state conference.

I have been learning about food for my whole life from my dad, who has decades of experience in the food industry. In my free time I experiment with trying new food, and improving my cooking skills.
